Note*   Mary Mary Glasgow Snyder served the communities in Clearfield Co. as a Midwife all her life. She delivered the children and wrote her own 'birth certificates' for the children she delivered. She also kept a record of those children in the Snyder Family Bible. Persons who hade seen this bible said the 'Mary must have delivered half the County.' Efforts to locate this Bible and birth records have been Fruitless, but it is believed that Tim Swatsworth may have been the last person to have had the records. Mary Blakley, sister of Tim, said that she had the Bible, but that the records had been removed.

Note*   Jonathan A family tradition associated with the Snyders is that when Grandfather, not sure how far back, married, the two families were feuding. They slipped off on horseback got married and went from Amsterdam, New Jersey to around Bellefont, Pa. The only thing that they took with them was a crock of peach butter. Sarah Jane Snyder had the crock among her possessions up until the time that it was destroyed in a fire. The Snyder farm in Bellefont, Centre Co., Pa, was sold to Pennsylvania State College.

Note*   James The heirs of this James Glasgow are identified in the sale of his property after his death, see Intestate Will below. The children are also identified as the children of James and Lucy Ann in the Emanuels German Reformed Church at Tussyville, Pa. His daughter, Mary Magdalena's death certificate identifies James Glasgow as her father and Lucy Ann Young as her mother. In Census enumerations, the name of James's wife varies with each enumeration and conflicts with the name Lucy Ann, however, the children's name and age are consistant.

James's eldest son, John, joined the Emanuels German Reformed Church at Tussyville, Pa. by Right of Confirmation on June 12, 1859. That same day, James and Lucy Ann transfered their membership as did Lucy's mother Hannah Young. The family, and descendents appeard to have been active in that congregration from that time on.
