Note*   Conrad ..Conrad Kyler I The Kylers were natives of the Rhine Provinces in Germany, and came too this country prior to 1700. Conrad and Catherine settled for a time in the Cumberland Valley, and sometime before 1801 they came to Centre Co., It is said that Conrad Kyler built the fourth house to be erected in Bellefonte, Pa. He was known as a very fine weaver. With his family, he came from Bellefonte to the wilderness of Clearfield Co. about 1803, settling at what is now known as Troy Hill, north of Phillipsburg, Pa. Absolom Pearce

Note*   Absolom ..Absolom Pearce Absolom Pierce came to Centre Co. after the deaths of his parents during an epidemic between 1790 and 1795 at Fort Pitt, Pa. Absolom was one of seven children who were left orphans, and became 'bound out' to John Flegal of Phillipsburg, Pa. From Mr. Flegal he learned the trade of a blacksmith, and was employed by the Hardman Phillips interests at one time. The Pierces settled at Kentuck Hill, in the vicinity of Pleasant Hill, near Phillipsburg. Some time later they moved into the area we know as Bigler and Woodland, where, about 1814, they built their permanent home, a part of which was in use about 1950. By faith, Absolom Pearce was a Presbyterian. He was active in the affairs of Bradford Township, serving as Assessor in 1812, and as Justice of the Piece.
