Introduction

KELLIHEN/KELLYHAN/KELLYHEN/KILLEHAN thorough early records, sufficient instances of the same person being listed by many spellings exist to indicate that any spelling may be used interchangeably. Kellihen was used by Elizabeth. Kellyhan and

Kellyhen are most frequently used by the Roxbury Kellyhans.

A Geographical note:

Elizabeth Kellihen Seal stated on 3-Dec-1890 that she was born in Drakes town on 3-Dec-1830. Drakestown is part of, what was the referred to as, Schooleys Mountain. This is a section of Roxbury Twp., Morris Co.

No assignment of Elizabeth's father is concluded at this time. In 1860, a James H. Killehan, age 25, wife and girl are enumerated next to Elizabeth and Peter Seals suggesting a relationship. In 1850, there is a James Kellyhan, wife and 8 child enumerated in Washington Twp., Morris Co. This family has an Elizabeth Pool enumerated with them. An Elizabeth Kellehen married Peter Pool on 21-July-1850, both from Schooleys Mountain. The enumeration date was 13-Sep-1850. It is unlikely that James would have had two daughters, age 18 and 20 named Elizabeth. Further census research may help to enlighten this situation.

Elizabeth Kellihen (18-Sep-1830/19-Oct-1918)

Family of Elizabeth Kellihen and Peter Seal - Proven Data pertaining to Peter & Elizabeth originated from family records of birth, death & marriage. Source not known, but probably was Rosa Belle Seal Mort. N.J.

born children confirmed by 1860 census. LDS microfiche also confirms David & Roberts birth dates and makes the place of birth Lebanon Twp, Hunterdon Co.

Other references are Elizabeth's pension affidavits in statements of her own and that of Peter's brother, John.
